Overview

Weekender RNs will work Friday night through Sunday night, 2 12-hour shifts and an 8-hour shift or 3 12-hour shifts, each weekend while being paid for 40 or 44 hours. The goal of this program is to create predictable staffing schedules for weekend shifts. While nurses in this program can still pick up extra weekday hours, they will primarily work weekend shifts.

The Float Pool Staff Nurse is a skilled, Registered Nurse available to support staffing needs during times when the hospital experiences high volumes, increased acuity, sick calls or vacant positions. This nurse would work in multiple care areas and maintain competency in a designated specialty Telemetry or Critical Care. The Float Clinical Resource Staff Nurse will receive assignments daily from the UHS Staffing Office.

The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, and the alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response and through advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN is responsible and accountable for compliance to all standards of practice and professional development in accordance with the New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services Hospitals and Nursing Division policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.

Education/Experience

  • Minimum Required:
    • A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
  • Preferred:
    • Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing
    • Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting
License/Certification

  • Minimum Required:
    • Current New York State Registered Nurse License.
    • CPR within 3 months of hire
    • ACLS within one year of hire
  • Preferred:
    • Professional certification in a related nursing specialty
